Boer War Orange Free State and Transvaal operations and Great War group to Private E. Crabb, Essex Regiment, later Middlesex Regiment who saw service during the Boer War in South Africa being present during the operations in Orange Free State and Transvaal. He would later serve in the Great War as a Private with the Middlesex Regiment.

Edward John Crabb was born in Rayleigh, Southend, Essex and giving his trade as a Bricklayer attested on 25th June 1894. He would initially serve at home until he travelled to India on 8th February 1897, while in India he would gain a nursing certificate on 2nd February 1901. He would then later travel to South Africa on 15th December 1901 where he would take part in the Boer War and be present in the operations in Orange Free State and Transvaal.
He would return home on 15th September 1902 and would eventually be discharged on 24th June 1910 and would later see Great War Service with the Middlesex Regiment as a Private (No. G-32222)
