Morgan saw service as a Private (No. 6362) with the 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal. He would later serve in the Great War on the Western Front from 7th September 1914 as a Private, later Corporal (No. L-6362) with the 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs.
