Boer War Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal operations pair awarded to Private J.C. Dixon, 1st Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment who saw service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal.

James Charles Dixon was born in St. Margaret’s, Middlesex and enlisted on 3rd February 1890 giving his trade as a shoemaker attested at London on 5th February 1890 and subsequently saw service as a Private (No. 2868) with the 1st Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment initially serving at home until 25th January 1900 when he travelled to South Africa. He would return to the UK from 21st June 1900 until 5th September 1901 when he returned to South Africa until 17th September 1902. Whilst in South Africa he would take part in the Boer War and would be present on operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal.
He would return home after that, but would continue serving. He would be arrest on 31st October 1904 and tried by court martial resulting in him being reduced to the ranks from Corporal, which rank he had attained on 5th March 1901. He would later be discharged on termination of engagement on 4th February 1911.
