Belgium: Commemorative Medal of the War 1914-1918.

Created by Royal Decree on 21 July 1919, the medal was intended to ‘attest in an apparent manner the merit of Belgian citizens who were in the ranks of the armed forces in the war of 1914-1918’ and was awarded for service in the Belgian army between 1st August 1914 and 11th November 1918. It was also awarded to foreign nationals, such as members of the French medical corps who served in Belgian military hospitals.
