John Millar Scott saw service during the Great War as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 11th Service Battalion attached 1st Battalion, Black Watch - the Royal Highlanders, and was present out on the Western Front, being killed in action during the Battle of the Somme on 18th August 1916. Aged 22 at the time of his death, he was the son of Mr and Mrs James Scot of 2 Grange Road, Alloa, and having no known grave, he is commemorated by name on the Thiepval Memorial.
