Clifford Wix was born in Leeds, and initially served as a Private (No. 25801) in the West Yorkshire Regiment, before transferring to the 25th Battalion (Tyneside Irish), Northumberland Fusiliers with whom he was killed in action during the Battle of Arras on 25th April 1917.

Wix was the son of Herbert and Elizabeth Wix of 36 Denison Street, Burley Road, Leeds, and is remembered on the Arras Memorial.
