Edwin Street was born in Landport, Hampshire on 14th April 1844 and joined 23rd September 1867 seeing service as a Shipwright aboard Duke of Wellington from 1st June 1873 to 6th September 1873, Asia from 7th September 1873 until 1st October 1873, Active from 2nd October 1873 until 24th November 1874 including during the Ashantee War in West Africa.
From 25th November 1874 until 19th June 1875 he served aboard Flora, then Active from 20th June 1875 until 9th August 1875, Flora from 10th August 1874 until 7th October 1875, Active from 8th October to 22nd November 1875, Flora from 23rd November 1875 until 20th September 1876, Active from 21st April 1876 to 12th April 1877, Asia from 13th April 1877 to 3rd June 1877, Thunderer on 4th June 1877 to 28th July 1877 when he was shore pensioned.
