Widdowson, 2nd Battalion, Derbyshire Regiment who saw service during the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 as well as the operations with the Tirah Field Force, he would also later see service during the Boer War in South Africa where he would be present during the operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal.
