George Duncan was born in Scarborough, Yorkshire around 1828 aged 40 and saw service with the Grenadier Guards, initially joining as a Private on 15th May 1847, he would be promoted to Corporal on 28th January 1852, and Sergeant on 10th May 1854. He would be discharged on 23rd June 1868 having seen 21 years service, 2 years and 9 months of which was in British North America.
Never entered in the Regimental Defaulters Book he would have been in possession of 5 good conduct badges were he not a Sergeant.
