Samuel Stevens was born in Oundle, Northamptonshire around 1818 and would enlist in 1836 before seeing 21 years service with the Grenadier Guards and being discharged in 1857 having spent 21 years serving in the UK.
His character upon discharge being noted as very good having never been tried by court-martial and being in possession of four good conduct badges. Having served at home for 21 years this is the recipients sole entitlement.
