William Ford saw 20 years and 275 days of service with the 76th Regiment of Foot, 14 years and 3 months of this being overseas, 4 years and 3 months in North America when the Regiment was stationed in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and later for 10 years in the East Indies.
He would be discharged in 1874, his character being noted as very good, and when promoted being in possession of one good conduct badge and would had he not have been promoted have been in possession of five good conduct badges. He was never entered in the Regimental Defaulter’s Book or tried by Court Martial.
