Moses Fellows was born in Hastings, Sussex and giving his trade as a Labourer attested at Woolwich on 2nd January 1885. He would see service as a Gunner (No. 46268) with the Royal Artillery. Initially serving at home he would travel to India on 3rd December 1889, remaining there for just over four years until he returned home to the UK on 14th December 1893 and service there until his release on 19th July 1907. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in Army Order 2408 of 1906, with his conduct stated as exemplary.
Having been discharged at Plymouth, he intended to reside at Millpool Head, Millbrook, Cornwall.
