Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, EVII awarded to Private C. Pope, Devon Regiment in Army Order 254 of 1908 who saw service in the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June to 6th April 1898 as well as the Tirah Field Force and later in the Boer War where he would be present during the Relief of Ladysmith and then in the actions at Belfast and Elandslaagte.

Charles Pope was born in Down St. Mary, near Morchard Bishop, Devon, and giving his trade as a labourer enlisted at Exeter on 29th May 1889, he would initially serve at home until on 28th January 1891 he moved to Egypt, and then on 29th December 1892 he arrived in India where he would go on to see service during the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 as well as the operations with the Tirah Field Force.
He would subsequently travel to South Africa on 21st September 1899 where he would then take part in the Boer War being present during the Relief of Ladysmith and then at the actions at Belfast and at Elandslaagte.
He would return to India on 19th January 1902 and remain there until returning home on 21st December 1908, finally being discharged on 27th May 1910.
His Long Service Medal was issued in Army Order 254 of 1908 and is additionally entitled to an India General Service Medal 1895 with clasps for Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98, Queen’s South Africa Medal 1899-1902, with claps for Elandslaagte, Relief of Ladysmith and Belfast and King’s South Africa Medal 1901-1902 with clasps South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902
