Eric Alfred Hornsby Collins joined the Royal Artillery, service number 1438201 in 1938 and with the RA saw service with the British Expeditionary Force in France during 1940. He was commissioned into the Wiltshire Regiment on 3 June 1940 and saw home service for the remainder of hostilities. Having transferred to the East Kent Regiment thereafter, on 24 May 1955 he again transferred, this time into the Secretarial Branch of the Royal Air Force. Ir was with the RAF that he serviced in Cyprus.
