An unusual Great War Western Front and Canadian Merchant Navy group of five awarded to Private C.B. Povey, 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment who saw service on the Western Front from 11th November 1914 and who would later be admitted to No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station with a gunshot wound to the thigh on 19th April 1915. Later discharged he saw further Great War service with the Canadian Merchant Navy.

Cyril Bernard Povey saw service as a Private (No. 10293) with the 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment on the Western Front from 11th November 1914 and would be admitted to No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station with a gunshot wound to the thigh on 19th April 1915. He appears to have joined the Canadian Merchant Navy and received a silver tribute medal from the city of Sault Ste. Marie in northern Ontario, Canada.
