An unusual Egypt Battle of Tofrek, Punjab Frontier Relief of Malakand and Third China War Relief of Pekin group awarded to Private Lazar, Queen’s Own Madras Sappers and Miners who would be present during the Suakin 1885 campaign including at the Battle of Tofrek. He would later serve on the Punjab Frontier where he would be present during the operations to Relieve Malakand and later during the suppression of the Boxer Rebellion where he would be present during the Relief of Pekin operations which lasted from 10th June to 14th August 1900.

Awarded to Private (No. 995) Lazar, Queen’s Own Madras Sappers and Miners who would see service during the Suakin 1885 operations which lasted from 1st March to 14th May 1885, including being in the action at Tofrek on 22nd March 1885, when having marched to Tamai, Sudan to build three fortified bases, they were attacked by local Arabs of the Hadendoa tribe, after severe fighting the enemy were driven off, losing 3000 killed or died of wounds.
He would subsequently see service during the operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898, and was part of the Malakand Relief Force during the period from 26th July to 2nd August 1897. Finally he would be present out in China during the suppression of the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, and was present during the Relief of Pekin operations which lasted from 10th June to 14th August 1900.
