An Old Contemptible’s 1914 Star to Sergeant George Thomas Morley, Coldstream Guards who went on to win the Military Medal on the Somme in 1916, before being commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Wiltshire Regiment and killed in action on 24 March 1918 during the German Spring Offensive.

George Thomas Morley of Cambridge, embarked for France & Flanders on 12 August, 1914. The Times announced that we would Wounded in Action on 24 September 1914. Morley was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette 19 Dec 1916, for actions on the Somme and was commissioned into the 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment thereafter. He was killed in action on 24 March 1918 and is interred in the Bancourt British Cemetery, France.
