Second Lieutenant E.D. Cranford, Royal Artillery was appointed a Second Lieutenant on 4th August 1947, being promoted to Lieutenant on 4th August 1948, Temporary Captain on 10th October 1952 and Captain on 6th May 1954. He would see service in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency.
