Nelson Ellis is recorded as having been slightly wounded at Lucknow on 16 March 1857 and is recorded in the London Gazette of 30 Sept 1882 as transferring “from late 1st Bengal European Fusiliers” into the 101st Foot with a dated entry of 14 September 1857.
