An Indian Mutiny Lucknow operations and Army Long Service and Good Conduct pair awarded to Private J. Hall, 90th Regiment of Foot – Perthshire Light Infantry, later of the 41st (Welch) Regiment of Foot who saw service in India during the Indian Mutiny being present at the relief of Lucknow in November 1857, and was then present in operations at Lucknow from November 1857 through to March 1858. He would later be awarded the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal:

James Hall was born in West Bromwich and attested at Stafford on 20th February 1856, he would go on to serve for 21 years and 35 days of which 18 years and 25 days were spent in India including during the Indian Mutiny where he served as a Private (No.4340) with the 90th Regiment of Foot – Perthshire Light Infantry and was with Sir Colin Campbell’s force, being present at the relief of Lucknow in November 1857, and was then present in operations at Lucknow from November 1857 through to March 1858. He would be promoted to Corporal on 13th December 1864 and then would subsequently be reduced to the ranks on 26th November 1866 having been convicted for ‘neglect of body’.
Hall would be transferred to the 41st Regiment of Foot on 1st August 1869 with whom he saw the remainder of his service initially as a Private (No. 1467), before being promoted Corporal once more on 1st April 1875 and finally being discharged on 18th April 1876.
