John Thomas Weekes saw service as a Rifleman (No.2043) with the 3rd Battalion, Rifle Brigade, during the operations on the Punjab Frontier which officially began on 10th June 1897. During the campaign, Weekes contracted remittent fever, and was treated at the British Field Hospital at Miranshah, where he died on 15th November 1897. Medal and clasp entitlement confirmed.
