John James May was born in the parish of Manaton, near the town of Exeter and attested for the 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment at Curragh Camp on 11 Jan 1892. He served for 14 years with this battalion and was discharged on 31 March 1906, this confirmed as his complete entitlement.
