An attractively framed Great War pair of Medals with photograph and rare Royal Air Force “Kings’ Certificate” of Honourable Discharge to Private John Thomas Arnold, Royal Air Force, late Royal Naval Air Service.

These mounted for display in period frame with photograph of the recipient in Royal Navy uniform and the King’s Certificate of Honourable Discharge, to “229809 Pte. John Thomas Arnold, Royal Air Force. Served with honour and was disabled in the Great War. Honourably Discharged on 7th Nov. 1918”.
The King’s Certificate noted on the recipient’s RAF service record and noted as having been issued on 30.8.1919.
John Thomas Arnold was born in Brentford, Middlesex and was a dairy farmer by trade. He enlisted into the RNAS on 30 May 1917 and served on land operations in Dunkirk as an Aircraftsman 2nd Class from July 1917. He joined the Royal Air Force on its formation on 1 April 1918 and continued serving in France as a Private 1st Class. He was discharged from the RAF on 7 Nov 1918 being found to be unfit. He was additionally issued with a Silver War Badge.
