A superb 1886 dated 18 carat gold set of insignia for the Civil Division Knights Commander of The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, K.C.B., comprising both neck badge and breast star, and housed in its R & S Garrard & Co ‘to the Crown’, fitted presentation case.
The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Knights Commander, K.C.B., Civil Division, neck badge and breast star set, gold, silver, and enamels, housed in its R & S Garrard & Co fitted presentation case, both parts of the insignia in excellent condition, the neck badge bearing gold marks for London with date letter 'L' for 1886, the neck badge is complete with full length of old ribbon as worn.

The Most Honourable Order of the Bath which was originally instituted in 1725, was reorganised in 1815 into two Divisions, the Military and Civil Divisions. The Military Division split into three classes, whilst the Civil Division continued as a single class through to 1847, when it came into line with the Military Division and then continued as three classes.
