A Second World War North-West Europe theatre and post-war Palestine Jewish Revolt group awarded to Gunner P.G. Phillips, 107th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery later 3 Reserve Regiment and 300 Air Landing Anti-Tank Battery who saw service in North West Europe including at Arnhem where he is said to have escaped by swimming across the river on 24th September 1944. He would subsequently see post war service Palestine during the Jewish Revolt.

Percy Granville Phillips enlisted on 19th November 1942, transferring to the 23rd Field Training Regiment, Royal Artillery on 30th December 1942. He would posted to 16th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery on 24th March 1943, the unit being redesignated the 107th Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery on 21st March 1944.
With this unit Phillips saw service in North West Europe from 11th July 1944 including according to a note from a previous owner at Arnhem, where he swam the river on the night of 24th September 1944 to escape being taken prisoner by the Germans.
In November 1945 he was posted to 3 Reserve Regiment and in May 1946 to the 300 Air Landing Anti Tank Battery, this becoming the 9th Airborne Anti-Tank Battery, Royal Artillery in April 1947, at which he time he was serving in Palestine during the Jewish Revolt.
Philips transferred to the Army Reserve in August 1947 and was discharged on 16th March 1953.
Previously sold as part of the Bill Strong Collection as a single General Service Medal, although the entitlement to the Second World War Medals was confirmed on the accompanying M.O.D. statement of service.
