A Second World War identity bracelet, as worn by the future Colonel A.R.H. Hartley, Cheshire Regiment, who as General Staff Officer 2nd Grade (Air) with the Headquarters of 16 Independent Para Brigade Group between January 1951 through to January 1953 when stationed at home, and in Cyprus and the Canal Zone, was appointed a Member of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the London Gazette for 1st June 1953.

Alfred Philip Holland Hartley was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant (No.130628) into the Cheshire Regiment on 24th May 1940, and was subsequently appointed a Member of the Military Division of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the London Gazette for 1st June 1953, this being for his services as a General Staff Officer 2nd Grade (Air) with the Headquarters of 16 Independent Para Brigade Group between January 1951 through to January 1953 when stationed at home, and in Cyprus and the Canal Zone. Hartley retired as a Colonel on 12th October 1973.
