A Second World War Burma Theatre Officer’s Efficiency Medal group to Lieutenant J.E. Leeder, 4th Battalion, later 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment who was commissioned a Lieutenant on 20th August 1943 and was appointed a War Substantive Lieutenant, Royal Sussex Regiment on 20th February 1944 being awarded the Efficiency Medal in the London Gazette of 12th December 1946, and a second award bar to his Efficiency Medal as a Captain (Temporary Major) in the London Gazette of 26th May 1950.

Edward John Leeder originally served as a Sergeant in the 4th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment prior to the outbreak of war and was commissioned Lieutenant on 20th August 1943 and was appointed a War Substantive Lieutenant, Royal Sussex Regiment on 20th February 1944 being awarded the Efficiency Medal in the London Gazette of 12th December 1946, and a second award bar to his Efficiency Medal as a Captain (Temporary Major) in the London Gazette of 26th May 1950. He had seen service in the Burma theatre with 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment.
He was later the chairman of Redhill Alloys Limited which was wound up on 29th May 1980 and died in Langport, Somerset in December 1993.
