A Redan casualty Crimean War Alma and Sebastopol and Indian Mutiny Lucknow operations group awarded to Private, later Corporal S. Love, 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade who would see service in the Crimea at the Battle of Alma on 20th September 1854 and during the siege of Sebastopol which began on 11th September 1854, being wounded during the attack on the Redan on 8th September 1855. He would subsequently travel to India where he would take part in the operations around Lucknow which lasted from November 1857 through to March 1858.

Samuel Love was born in the parish of St. Anne’s, Norwich and attested to the Rifle Brigade on 3rd February 1855 at Westminster and would see service as a Private (No. 3155) with the 2nd Battalion, Rifle Brigade.
Taking part in the Crimean War he would be present at the Battle of Alma on 20th September 1854, as well as during the siege of Sebastopol which began on 11th September 1854. He would be slightly wounded in the attack on the Redan on 8th September 1855.
Travelling to India, he then saw service during the Indian Mutiny during the operations around Lucknow which lasted from November 1857 through to March 1858. He would be promoted to Corporal on 9th February 1859, before being discharged on 7th May 1861 suffering from Heart Disease and being listed as unfit for further service.
