Condition: Silver medals toned or with spots of toning, the Queen’s Medal somewhat polished, generally Very Fine.
Sold together with Her Majesty The Queen;’s Medal, Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, dated 1977 (DAVID PATRICK MORAN), silver-gilt and enamels, in Royal Mint fitted presentation case.
David Patrick Moran saw service with the Royal Marines in Northern Ireland before receiving a Special Regular Commission to be Lieutenant in The Army Air Corps on 11 Dec 1976 with seniority from 3 July 1974. He passed through Sandhurst in 1977 and won The Queen’s Medal which was awarded to the Officer Cadet who gained the highest scores in military, practical and academic studies in that year. Having risen to the rank of Captain, he retired from the British Army on 1 April 1983 and thereafter joined the Sultan of Oman’s Air Force.
In Muscat on 18 November, 1985, he was awarded the The Order of The Special Royal Emblem in recognition of his efforts and dedication to the Sultanate.
On retiring from the Sultan’s Air Force, he settled in Somerset.
