A rare Naval General Service Canal Zone and Near East operations, Long Service and Meritorious Service Medal group awarded to Fleet Chief Petty Officer Radio Supervisor P.S. Snape, Royal Navy who would serve during the operations in the Canal Zone between as an Ordinary Telegrapher between October 1951 and October 1954 and then in the Near East in Egypt as part of Operation Musketeer which lasted from 31st October to 22nd December 1956, later being awarded the Royal Navy Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 22nd November 1967 whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Terror and having been present during the 1977 Jubilee Celebrations, would subsequently be awarded the Royal Navy Meritorious Service Medal whilst serving with H.M.S. Mercury, this being awarded to him on 3rd July 1979, shortly after he had been pensioned on 25th May 1979.

Peter Stanley Snape was born in Clitheroe, Lancashire on 26th May 1934 and would serve as a Boy Sailor from 11th July 1950 before he formally joined the Royal Navy on his eighteenth birthday on 26th May 1952. He would go on to see service on operations in the Canal Zone between as an Ordinary Telegrapher between October 1951 and October 1954 and then in the Near East in Egypt as part of Operation Musketeer which lasted from 31st October to 22nd December 1956. He would be awarded a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal whilst serving as a Chief Petty Officer Radio Supervisor on 22nd November 1967, subsequently being present during the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations in 1977 before being awarded a Meritorious Service Medal on 3rd July 1979 whilst serving as a Fleet Chief Petty Officer Radio Supervisor with HMS Mercury.
He would be pensioned on 25th May 1979 and would subsequently live in Purbrook, Hampshire.
