After the exposure of the Congo atrocities by E.D. Morel and Roger Casement, King Leopold II ceded his Independent State to Belgium in 1908. His CHEFFERIE INDIGENE and SOUS CHEFFERIE INDIGINE medals were continued with modified designs under Belgian administration.
