Jackson, Commissariat and Transport Corps who saw service in Egypt during the Egyptian War where he would be present during the Suakin 1885 operations which lasted from 1st March to 14th May 1885 and was present in the action at Tofrek on 22nd March 1885 being killed in action on this date. 1 of 70 British and Indians lost at the Battle of Tofrek with over 100 others wounded.

Private (No. 4456) R. Jackson, Commissariat and Transport Corps would see service in Egypt during the Egyptian War where he would present during the Suakin 1885 operations which lasted from 1st March to 14th May 1885, including being in the action at Tofrek on 22nd March 1885, being killed in action on this date. At Tofrek Commissariat & Transport Corps personnel were actively engaged unloading supplies and pitching camp when the Mahdists attacked. Many were outside the main defensive formations, often lightly armed and focused on logistics rather than combat. When the square was penetrated, transport troops were among the first to be overrun and casualties in the Commissariat and Transport Corps were notably high relative to their numbers.
