A Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Boer War Transvaal operations and Imperial Service Medal group awarded to Private, later Corporal W. Harris, 1st Battalion later 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – The Buffs, who having served during the operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 would then serve in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in Transvaal. He would go on to serve as a Subordinate Officer with the Prison Officer and later as a Temporary Assistant Postman.

Walter Harris saw service as a Private (No. 4448) with the 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – The Buffs during the operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898 and then in South Africa during the Boer War on operations with 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs.
Subsequently returning home to the UK he would be appointed a Subordinate Officer, Division 1 with the Prison Officer in the London Gazette of 3rd July 1906 and then in the London Gazette of 6th April 1915 he would be appointed a Temporary Assistant Postman.
Harris’ brother Private (No. 9342) W. Harris, 3rd Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps died of disease at Heidelberg on 23rd April 1901.
