Awarded to Master Warrant Officer (No.SE-103233) J.W.H. Delaney, 2nd Battalion, Royal 22nd Regiment, Canadian Army, who as a member of the 2nd Battalion, would have had his headquarters in Quebec City. He saw home service in Canada during the Second World War, but was then present in the Korean War most probably between 4th May 1951 and 24th April 1952 when the 2nd Battalion formed part of the Special Force.

Three battalions of the Royal 22e Régiment as it is correctly titled, served in Korea as part of the 25th Canadian Infantry Brigade, 1st Commonwealth Division. The 2nd Battalion formed as part of the Special Force was the first to arrive in Korea, serving there from 4th May 1951 and 24th April 1952, followed by the 1st Battalion from 20th April 1952 to 21st April 1953 then the 3rd Battalion from 16th April 1953 to the Armistice on 27th July 1953

Having been awarded his Canadian Forces Decoration whilst a Staff Sergeant, Delaney then took part in United Nations Peacekeeping operations in Cyprus during the 1960’s, and was ultimately promoted to Master Warrant Officer.
