A particularly well presented Queen’s South Africa Medal with clasps for Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, 1914-15 Star trio with Mention in Despatches and G.V.R. Meritorious Service Medal group of five to Lieutenant Robert Wilson, Army Service Corps, who served with the Imperial Yeomanry during the Boer War and received a Mention in Despatches for distinguished services in the field as a Company Quartermaster Sergeant in April 1916.

- Large illuminated Freedom of The City of Newcastle document, dated 7 Aug 1901, admiring R. Wilson of the Imperial Yeomanry to be an Honorary Freeman of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, in recognition of his loyalty and devotion to the throne and Empire in gallantly volunteering band serving with the British Army in the War in South Africa. - this split through the middle and repaired.
- Mention in Despatches Certificate of General Sir Douglas Haigh’s Despatch of 30 April 1916 awarded to M/2/034262 C.Q.M.S. R. Wilson, Army Service Corps.
Robert Wilson of Whitley Bay, Northumberland saw service with the Imperial Yeomanry during the Boer War and subsequently with the Northumberland Hussars. He embarked for France as a Company Quartermaster Sergeant with the Army Service Corps on 8 May 1915. He was Mentioned in Despatches the following year and also received the Meritorious Service Medal which was gazetted on 1 Nov 1916, five days after he was commissioned Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps.
