A Palestine Arab Revolt and Second World War Atlantic, Mediterranean, Burma and Pacific operations group awarded to Ordinary Seaman P.A.D. Smith, Royal Navy who saw service in operations off the coast of Palestine during the Arab Revolt and during the Second World War would see service aboard HMS Warspite in the Mediterranean and later with various Submarine depots and aboard the S-Cass Submarine Sea Nymph.

Peter Arthur Douglas Smith was born in Northampton on 31st March 1920 and would join on 31st May 1938 with Drake, he would then serve with St. Angelo from 12th April 1939, before returning to Maidstone on 1st July 1939 and then joining Drake from 1st October 1939, being advanced to Able Seaman on 29th November 1939, before joining Warspite on 29th April 1940 with whom he would see service in the Mediterranean.
He would leave for Woolwich on 3rd April 1941, then Nile attached Kimberley on 10th May 1941, Osprey from 1st January 1942 being imprisoned for Theft from 9th March to 3rd April 1942., Nimrod from 29th August 1942, Osprey from 26th September 1942, Dolphin the Submarine base from 16th October 1942 being attached to Protius on 5th February 1943, he would then serve with Forth, another submarine base from 2nd June 1943, Wolfe from 22nd July 1943, Cyclops from 28th July 1943, being advanced to Acting Leading Seaman 2nd Class on 13th September 1943, Forth on 20th December 1944 being attached to the S Class Submarine Sea Nymph on 16th February 1945 with whom he would sail to the Pacific, in the end having to return to the UK to replace a battery. Maidstone on 13th March 1945, and finally joining Dolphin on 1st August 1945 where he would be released on 14th January 1946.
