Frazer, 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs who saw service as part of the Chitral Relief Force in 1895 and on operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 until 6th April 1898, he would also be present in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Transvaal.

James Fraser was born in Southwark, London and giving his trade as a packer attested at Canterbury on 1st April 1890 and initially served at home until 10th December 1891, when he would travel to India going on to serve as part of the Chitral Relief Force in 1895 and on operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898. He would remain in India until 15th February 1901, when he would move to Burma to serve until 14th March 1902. He would subsequently travel to South Africa on 15th March 1902 where he would see service during the final stages of the Boer War, taking part in the operations in Transvaal.
Returning home, he would serve until discharged on 31st March 1911, gaining entitlement to an Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in Army Order 250 of 1908. He would re-enlist for the Great War and serve at home in the UK for the duration earning no medal entitlement but being issued a Silver War Badge
