Military General Service Medal 1793-1814, 2 Clasps: Vittoria, Toulouse; (JASPER ARBUCKLE, 94TH FOOT.)

Condition: slight contact wear and scuffing to the face, Very Fine.

Jasper Arbuckle joined the British Army in 1812 as a Private with the 94th (Scots Brigade) Regiment of Foot, and then saw service during the Peninsular War in Spain at the Battle of Vittoria on 21st June 1813, and later in the south of France at the Battle of Toulouse on 10th April 1814. The 94th Foot embarked for Cork in May 1814 and was disbanded at Dublin in December 1818.

The muster roll for 94th Foot non pensioners claiming the medal confirms his entitlement to both clasps, as does the original 94th Foot Medal Roll, however the Colin Message medal roll only states the clasp for Vittoria. The medal was clearly issued to him with both clasps, and has come to us directly from the recipient’s descendants.
