A Great War Western Front Military Medal awarded to Serjeant L. Casper, 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, who had enlisted under an alias, his family name being Blake, and then served on the Western Front from 6th October 1914. He would be awarded a Military Medal in the London Gazette of 11th November 1916 which covers a wide range of actions including Gallipoli and early Somme awards. He would be killed in action on 9th April 1918 and is buried in Croix-Du-Bac British Cemetery

Leonard Blake or Leonard Casper was born in Plymouth and enlisted in Sheffield whilst a resident of Birmingham under the alias Leonard Casper. He would see service as a Private and later Serjeant (No. 5909) with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers on the Western Front from 6th October 1914 and would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 11th November 1916. This gazette covers a wide range of awards including the 29th Division at Gallipoli and a substantial number of early Somme awards including some for 1st July 1916.
Leonard Casper was killed in action on 9th April 1918 and is buried in Croix-Du-Bac British Cemetery, Steenwerck. The Commonwealth War Graves notes his alias as Blake, and further notes him as the son of Joseph Nicholson Blake M.R.C.S. and Eleanor, his wife of Plymouth.
