Robert Anthony Bassham was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant into the London Regiment in the London Gazette for 15th June 1917, and then saw service with the 16th County of London Battalion - the Queen’s Westminster Rifles out on the Western Front from 7th September 1917. Having claimed his medals in December 1921, they were returned undelivered later that same month, and were then re-issued to him in November 1927.
