One of a number of men by the name of Alfred Stokes to lose their lives during the Great War. Included amongst this list of men is a Private (No.305173) Alfred Stokes, 1st/8th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, who was killed in action on 1st July 1917, the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
