A good Second World War Pacific Theatre and post war Malayan Emergency grouping to Assistant Superintendent of Police C.P. Phillips, Federation of Malaya Police who having served in the Pacific theatre during the Second World War would later service in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency. He would be assaulted in the line of duty by a Chinese Timber Merchant in the 1950, the case being covered in the Singapore Standard.

Assistant Superintendent of Police C.P. Phillips, Federation of Malaya Police who saw service in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency and had earlier seen service in the Pacific theatre during the Second World War.
On 30th August 1950 the Singapore Standard reported that:
‘A Chinese timber merchant Pan Soo Meng, was sentenced to one days’s simple imprisonment and fined $25 by Mr. A.P. Jack, the First Magistrate, who found him guilty of assaulting a police officer, Cadet ASP Mr. C.R. Phillips, in the line execution of duty on June 4.
On two other charge of using criminal intimidation to Mr. Phillips and failing to produce his identity card when demanded by a police officer. Pan was bound over to be of good behaviour for six months and fined $5 respectively.’
