Eric Chambers initially was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 28th October 1914, and would be promoted to Lieutenant, he would later see service with the Army Education Corps whilst attached to the 1st Battalion, Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry and would finish his service as a Captain with the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry.
The Army List of 1924 notes him as a Captain of the Reserve of Officers and a Captain in the Channel Islands Militia, during the Great War he had seen service in Egypt and later in Salonika as well as on the islands of the Aegean Sea.
