A good Northern Ireland and Falklands War pair awarded to Marine later Lance Corporal C.B. Milkins, 40 Commando, Royal Marines who saw service during the Falklands War where he was amongst the first troops ashore at San Carlos on 21st May along with other members of the Commando. He would later see service in Northern Ireland during the troubles and would be discharged on 24th August 1984 having given 18 months notice.

Royal Marines Company Record Book which contains an interim certificate of discharge from Royal Marines Service and a Personal Testimonial from his Commanding Officer dated 27th July 1984.
Craig Brian Milkins was born in Bristol on 18th September 1961 and giving his trade as a warehouse assistant enlisted into the Royal Marines on 12th January 1981 and would go on to see service with 40 Commando, Royal Marines from 15th December 1981 having completed his training.
He would see service both in Northern Ireland during the troubles and in the South Atlantic during the Falklands War,
In 1982, following the Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands, the Commando deployed on Operation Corporate. On 21 May the Commando were among the first troops ashore and secured the beachhead at San Carlos. The Unit was subsequently split having two companies attached to the Welsh Guards, preparing to attack Port Stanley, when the Argentine surrender came
Milkins would attain the rank of Lance Corporal on 6th January 1984 shortly before his discharge on 24th August 1984 having given 18 months notice.
Upon his discharge his Commanding Officer wrote:
‘Lance Corporal Milkins has completed over three years service in the Royal marines. During most of this period he has been with 40 Commando Royal Marines and has served in the Falkland Islands and Northern Ireland.
Since last year Lance Corporal Milkins has been a member of the Provost Staff and has proved to be a reliable, loyal and enthusiastic individual.
Throughout all his service he has been hardworking and dedicated, and I have no hesitation in recommending him to any future employer.’
