Hall, King’s Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) who saw service in North Africa and Italy during the Second World War being Mentioned in Despatches in the London Gazette of 23rd May 1946 and being appointed an Officer in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the London Gazette of 4th June 1948. He would go on to see post war service in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency and in Korea during the peacekeeping operations after the Korean War.

James Aylmer Hall was born on 30th June 1911 and would be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the King’s Own regiment on 3rd February 1933, being promoted to Lieutenant on 3rd February 1936.
He would serve as Acting Captain from 11th January 1940 until 10th April 1940 when he became Temporary Captain, a rank he held until 2nd February 1941. He was also Adjutant from 11th January 1940 until 13th July 1940.
Appointed Captain on 3rd February 1941 he served as Acting Major from 30th October 1941 until 29th January 1942 and Temporary Major from 30th January 1942 until 12th February 1944 then being appointed a War Substantive Major.
He held the rank of Major from 1st July 1946, an Acting Lieutenant Colonel from 13th November 1943 untul 12th February 1944, and temporary Lieutenant Colonel from 13th February 1944 until 23rd October 1944, from 4th April to 4th May 1945, from 21st August 1945 until 7th October 1945, from 4th February 1946 until 3rd November 1946.
He was Mentioned in Despatches in the London Gazette of 23rd May 1946 and appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire on 4th June 1948.
Hall would later see service in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency and during the peacekeeping operations in Korea after the conclusion of the Korean War.
He would die in London on 8th July 1996.
