A good Indian Pegu Campaign, Crimean War Siege of Sebastopol and Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal group awarded to Colour Serjeant, later Quartermaster Serjeant C. Calnan, 1st Battalion, 18th (The Royal Irish) Regiment of Foot who saw service in India and then Burma during the Second Burmese War where he would be present in the Pegu Campaign which began on 28th March 1852, he would then go on to see service in the Crimea where he would be present during the Siege of Sebastopol as well as being awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

Charles Calnan was born in Kinsale, Cork during 1822 and attested at Cork on 15th November 1841 and would go on to serve in the 18th The Royal Irish Regiment of Foot with whom he would be present out in India and then Burma during the Second Burmese War in the Pegu Campaign which began on 28th March 1852, he would then go on to see service in the Crimea where he would be present during the siege of Sebastopol. He would be discharged in December 1862, his conduct having been noted as very good having completed 21 years service and earnt entitlement to the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal as well as having attained the rank of Quartermaster Serjeant.
