A good Boer War pair and Great War Western Front 1914-1915 Star trio awarded to Private later Serjeant A.G. Hagger, 3rd later 9th Battalion, East Kent Regiment who having seen service on operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State during the Boer War with 3rd Battalion, East Kent Regiment would later re-enlist into the 9th Battalion, East Kent Regiment in October 1914, subsequently seeing service on the Western Front from 31st August 1915 including most likely at the Battle of Loos before being discharged due to wounds to his ribs and shock on 7th November 1916.

Arthur George Hagger was born in West Ham in the second quarter of 1877 and saw service with the 3rd Battalion, East Kent Regiment in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State.
Having purchased his discharge he would re-enlist on 18th October 1914 giving his trade as machinist he would then arrive in France to serve on the Western Front on 31st August 1915 , most likely seeing action during the Battle of Loos in September 1915 and being discharged Buffs due to wounds suffered with the 9th Battalion, East Kent Regiment on 7th November 1916 having suffered fractured ribs and shock.
Hagger received his King’s Certificate on discharge from the 29th Training Reserve on 2nd June 1917 whilst living at 49 Bignold Road, Forest Gate.
