A good Boer War Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal operations, Great War Mesopotamia and Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal group awarded to Private, later Lance Corporal J. Cox, 14th Hussars, who during a 22 year career would see service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, and later during the Great War where he would be present in Mesopotamia from 14th November 1915. He would be awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in September 1919.

Regimental Greetings Card – Greetings from Mesopotamia from John to his sweetheart
John Cox enlisted at Blandford Camp on 9th October 1899 and would go on to see service in South Africa during the Boer War where he took part in operations in Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal. He would still be serving at the outbreak of the Great War and would go on to see service as a Private, later Lance Corporal (No. 4216) with the 14th Hussars in Mesopotamia from 14th November 1915, awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1919, he would survive the war and would be discharged on 21st March 1922 having served for 22 years and 164 days.
