Cyril Stanley Elson was born in Torquay, Devon and having enlisted would see service as a Private (No. 10767) with the 8th (Service) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment being present on the Western Front from 25th July 1915. He would be killed in action on 25th September 1915 – the first day of the Battle of Loos and having no known grave is now remembered on the Loos Memorial.
