A fine Western Front Military Medal, GVR, and Prestwich Urban District Council Illuminated Scroll awarded to Private C. Garside, 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders who seeing service on the Western Front would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 26th April 1917 which covered awards made in February and early March 1917.

With superb approximately A3 Sized Illuminated Scroll on card backing from the Urban District of Prestwich, Lancashire.
‘At the Meeting of the Council held on the 11th day of June 1917, the following resolution was unanimously passed and a copy thereof was ordered to be presented to Private Charles Garside, M.M.’
‘That the Council heartily congratules Private Charles Garside, M.M., 1st Gordon Highlanders on obtaining the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry in action in the Great War and tenders to him its best wishes in the continuance of his services to his King and Country.’
Charles Garside saw service as a Private (No. S-9777) with the Gordon Highlanders and later the Labour Corps on the Western Front and would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 26th April 1917 which covered awards for February and early March 1917.
